Upgrades can sometimes increase the power of a piece of gear and at times even add additional features. The worth of these upgrades is determined by the gear's tiers, their requirements and how many random augmentations are made available.

The elite racial Shield Razortail, for example, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption function in PvP and/or add additional defenses to missile-based build in the PvM. This makes it more tradable over the original version that is not upgraded.

Reroll Tokens
