So You ve Purchased Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The item level Upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current level of the Best item upgrade. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies even if those items come from an entirely different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.
Crests
Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item upgrader kit level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
