Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will be able to gain 3percent of its previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for examplethe "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, which allows players to make stronger versions of the equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of an armored weapon or. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the various Glyphs and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your gear. Leveling

Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields a number of Technology Points. When an item is upgraded by a player to a higher level, the original item is replaced by a new item of the same type. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this.
