Upgrades can boost the performance of a piece of equipment and at times even add additional features. The worth of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements and the amount of random enhancements used.
The most powerful racial Shield Razortail, for example, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption capability in PvP, and/or to provide additional defenses to missile-based builds in the PvM. This makes it more tradeable over the unupgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to reroll an item you have acquired, such as armor, weapon, or rings. This allows you to swap the item for another similar one, with an additional set of bonuses. Reroll tokens are an efficient method of upgrading equipment. They don't keep the original item's level, and any resources wasted will not be refunded.
Reroll tokens can be obtained by survivors via a variety of methods, including from the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. They are also available in crates and chests or buy them at the market for $150 each. Reroll tokens are used to alter the attributes of an item upgrader mod, for example increasing the damage it can cause.
Players can reroll their equipment using three categories: physical power, magic power, and health. Upgrades to physical power can increase damage from weapons and melee attack and spell power increase the damage of mage attacks and rings. Health upgrades provide the player with additional health.
Three types of rerolls tokens are available such as upgrade rare, legendary and rare. Each upgrade elevates the item to a better quality. To upgrade their gear players first need to identify the appropriate item, and then click on the "level up" button. The menu will appear showing the item's current level and what it will be when being leveled up as well as the necessary amount of Growth Stones to achieve this. The number of Growth Stones required to upgrade an item will depend on its rarity. Rare (blue), rarer weapons will require more than one Growth Stone, while uncommon armor only requires one Growth Stone.

The upgrade of an item can boost its Mark Level and/or Rarity. Some upgrade components come with additional modifiers that can boost the stats of the item.
The upgrade to the helm "Foundation of the Sun" For instance, increases the base defense and gives an additional 20 percent chance to block. The DPS "Wildfire", on the other hand increases damage to weapons.
Certain items benefit from upgrading not so much for their improved stats, but for the fact that it lets players get the maximum amount of value from a perfect roll on the item. For instance, a flawlessly rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly valued in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50x the non-upp'd version.
If you choose an upgrade component to slot into an item, the game will display a pop-up window that shows the requirements required for that item. The game will show the requirements required when you select an upgrade component to slot into an item.
