1. Engine Speed Sensor
It is located on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 using an uncolored wire. If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).
It can be a bit difficult to test as there are various pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is functional, it should read around 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, i experienced a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or the injectors are not firing anymore. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs. Three were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The 4th one remains shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is in another location.
I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows a temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.
I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. But i am afraid I might have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles.
