World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of an item is listed on the character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it will be capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a seller.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory suggests that the item level is determined by formulas that determine how valuable an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values, and also that gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or other special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by putting a name on them.

Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items that can be added to the Upgrade item gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat within that range unless they are an item that is unique or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. As with base equipment, it would have to be done per item upgrading, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the chance of finding items, the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more useful in early game runs than in later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned by using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Additionally there are certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be bought from the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can also influence the success of an upgrade item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
