World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. This value is the total of all its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's a measure of the damage and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor is possible using the item level.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory states that the level of an item is calculated using an equation that determines the value of an item's stats actually are. It takes into consideration that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the value of the Best item upgrade. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's real item level.

It's not the only factor that influences the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may change its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or other special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item by specific stats, or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it's a unique item or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game and is thus more useful in the initial game run than in later ones, since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned with the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it is not successful.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has a base success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This could cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
