Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in early game runs than in later ones, since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to boost the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects.
