Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips of items. It is also used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

The level of an item can help players compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller is possible using the level of the item.

On PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full description of the item upgrader, as well as its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item upgrade's value. Item Stats

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which of the available stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it's an item that is unique or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.

This is another thing that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. Like the base equipment, it must be done per item and the interface for item upgrading comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
