World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all of its upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade item you choose to make. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.

It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item's level.

On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its level. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated by a formula that calculates the value of the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard item level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste, or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game utilizes them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage or special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by putting a name on them.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other rerolling methods.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item upgrader mod's level. However each item will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of the properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous for early game runs, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item may influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (visit the next document) CORE client config.
