Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Typically, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases like eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, retrieved as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will have to select it and then click on the upgrade item button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the necessary element or material required for the upgrade to take place.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix at the end of the names of items. For example adding a Glyph would make the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from earlier versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

If an item is completed, it will be capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available is determined by the item's type. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade item process will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is placed in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the choice to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower success rate.

Engineers utilize a level to compare the height of the building against an established location, such as the benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are constructed to a high standard of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. You can do this via the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in rare cases.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original Best item upgrader or another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This could be a positive or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that boosts the item's power by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are rolled into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade item a product, the better your chance of obtaining an exclusive bonus.

The game also features a number of sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on an item. This is a great method to add lots of power to a specific character without spending a lot of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment particularly in the initial stages. This is because rerolling could give players a faster path to a powerful character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be of different sizes, have none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.

There are a variety of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others are not. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not boost the quality of the item's stats when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have lots of armor pieces or weapons.

Set items can be upgraded to include specific functions that are beneficial for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items to parity with the different tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense of armor with an updated look.
