A number of studies have examined the use of ML for detecting ADHD. The majority of them used MRI data. Other studies have examined the use of eye movements. Some of the benefits of these methods include the accessibility and reliability of EEG signals. However, these measures do have limitations in their sensitivity and accuracy.

Researchers from Aalto University studied the eye movements of children in the game of virtual reality. This was done to determine if a ML algorithm could differentiate between ADHD and normal children. The results revealed that a machine-learning algorithm can detect ADHD children.

Another study examined the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms. The results showed that a random forest method has a higher degree of robustness, as well as higher levels of risk prediction errors. Similar to that, a permutation test demonstrated higher accuracy than randomly assigned labels.
